Merasjärvi is a small village about 200 km north above the arctic circle.

Politically, it belongs to the city of Kiruna. The next larger village though, where you find a bank, a post office and a food store is Vittangi, at 20 km distance.

Merasjärvi is a swedish village, but the borders to Finland and Norway are close – this is why you will hear at least 3 languages spoken by the inhabitants: swedish, finnish and the native samish.
The nearest airport and train station are at Kiruna.
